The Terrain Park at Val Bialas is one of the largest in Central NY.

Terrain Park 12.20.2013

New for 2013, our SUPER, IMPROVED terrain park.  No less than 4 table tops.   Although it is not setup yet, our 60 foot table top should be finished by January 10, 2014.   More rails, more fun boxes, more coming.   Get your seasons passes NOW!

Safety is of paramount concern here at Val Bialas.   We adhere to the SMART STYLE system of terrain park safety.

SMART STYLE TERRAIN PARK SAFETY CODE:

MAKE A PLAN

– Every time you use Freestyle Terrain, make a plan for each feature you want to use.
-Your speed, approach and takeoff will directly affect your maneuver and landing.

LOOK BEFORE YOU LEAP

-Before getting into freestyle terrain observe all signage and warnings
-Scope around the jumps first not over them
-Use your first run as a warm up run and to familiarize yourself with the terrain
-Be aware that the features change constantly due to weather, usage, grooming and time of day
-Do not jump blindly and use a spotter when necessary

EASY STYLE IT

-Know your limits and ski/ride within your ability level
-Look for small progression parks or features to begin with and work your way up
-Freestyle skills require maintaining control on the ground and in the air
-Do not attempt any features unless you have sufficient ability and experience to do so safely
-Inverted aerials increase your risk of injury and are not recommended

RESPECT GETS RESPECT

-Respect the terrain and others
-One person on a feature at a time
-Wait your turn and call your start
-Always clear the landing area quickly
-Respect all signs and stay off closed terrain and features

Coming to Val Bialas…  We are purchasing an air bag for the hill. Riders will be able to practice new tricks and push the boundaries of snowboarding rite here in Utica NY.  One of the only areas in the state with one.   It has been ordered from China, and hope to have it in about 8 weeks.   On Jan 25, I was notified that the airbag was still in Chinese customs waiting to clear for shipping to the USA.  I was hoping to have this for the Val Bialas Cup.   I am crossing my fingers.
